What are the freeboard measurements for your PFDs?

Unfortunately, the freeboard measurements for PFD's are very much dictated by body composition so we would not be able to offer a blanket recommendation in regards to the freeboard measurements for each use case. What we can say is that quite obviously, the higher the buoyancy and the type classification, the more freeboard a PFD will have. Offshore buoyant vests – are designed and developed for environments where wearers find themselves in isolated or rough waters. Offshore PFDs offer high buoyancy, and are suitable for most water conditions, and are designed to prop you quite high up in the water.

We have created a useful chart to show you the differences between approvals from Transport Canada, the United States Coast Guard and the UK, Europe (ISO).APPROVAL_PERFORMANCE_MAP-_March_2024_small_2902250b-f2e5-4909-bb99-4c8b03fb696a_1024x1024.webp
