If the screening window for the Hammar HIT is cracked, does that affect the PFD?

As long as the Hammar MA1 inflator does not show any visual signs of damage, and still indicates ‘green’, a cracked window should not affect the performance of the PFD.

However, if you are inspected (such as by the Coast Guard) depending on how badly the window is cracked, if it obscures the ability to see the indicator on the face of the MA1 inflator, it may be seen as not complying to Transport Canada/US Coast Guard Regulations. The regulations state that the face of the MA1 must be clearly visible through the window, and not have the indicator obscured in any way.
